Liverpool’s Jon Flanagan reveals in ‘dream’ Merseyside derby appearance
Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan admits it was a dream come true to line up for the Reds against Everton at Goodison on Saturday

Jon Flanagan has admitted it was a dream come true to help Liverpool secure a 3-3 draw with Everton in Saturday’s Merseyside derby.
The Reds sealed a late point thanks to last-gasp equaliser from substitute Daniel Sturridge at Goodison Park after Liverpool had twice squandered a lead against their top-four rivals.
Flanagan, who is a product of Reds’ famed youth academy, was brought into the side to deputise for injured Jose Enrique, and the young left-back
relished his chance to play in the local clash.
“It’s a dream come true just to get another chance,” Flanagan told Liverpool’s website.
“Playing for Liverpool’s first team is unbelievable for me. To play in a derby as a local lad, who has grown up supporting Liverpool, was a dream come true.
“The derby is the biggest of games. It’s as big as they get – Liverpool v Everton – for a local lad. All my family are Reds and I think they’ll be proud of my performance today.
“The manager just said well done and told me to keep going and to keep working hard. “It’s a dream come true just to get another chance.
