Liverpool’s Luis Suarez a freak of nature, says Jan Molby

Liverpool's Luis Suarez is a freak of nature and won't be affected by a 7,000-mile round trip in the derby, according to Jan Molby

Jan Molby has described Luis Suarez as a “freak of nature” – and has rubbished claims the Liverpool striker will be affected by a 7,000-mile round trip during the international break.

The 26-year-old South American forward, who has scored eight goals in six top-flight games, is expected start against Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Saturday.

However, Molby feels Suarez’s appetite to play first-team football means the Liverpool striker won’t be adversely affected by his role in Uruguay’s World Cup play-offs over the past week.

“Some people are concerned that Luis Suarez’s 7,000-mile round trip will have an impact on his performance,” Molby wrote in his Liverpool Echo column. “But it will not affect him at all.

“Suarez is a freak of nature and he will play the same in every game no matter.”

The former Liverpool midfielder, who left the Reds in 1995, feels Brendan Rodgers should play Aly Cissokho at left-back in the place of injured Spaniard Jose Enrique, who requires surgery on a knee injury.

“With Jose Enrique out of the derby through injury, Aly Cissokho would be my choice at left-back,” he added.

“Mamadou Sahko has been tried at left-back and it wasn’t a great success.

“Enrique’s injury does give Brendan Rodgers a problem but I would go with Cissokho.”
