‘Liverpool’s Luis Suarez is second best player in the world’
Liverpool striker Luis Suárez is the second-best player in the world, according to former Birmingham midfielder Robbie Savage
Robbie Savage believes Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is currently the “second best player” in the world behind Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan scored twice in a 3-1 victory over Cardiff City at Anfield on Saturday, as well as creating Raheem Sterling’s strike.
I would say Luis Suarez is the second best player in the world with Lionel Messi injured
The South American has scored 19 goals and made five assists in 11 Premier League appearances this term after returning from a 10-game ban in September.
And Savage reckons Suarez is currently filling injured Lionel Messi’s void as one of the best players in the world.
“I would say Luis Suarez is the second best player in the world with Lionel Messi injured,” Savage told BBC Sport.
“If Liverpool do not get in the Champions League, will the second or third best player want to play in the Europa League?”
Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva described Suarez as the best player in the Premier League.
“With what he is doing this season and what he has done for the past few seasons, he deserves that,” Lucas told Liverpool’s website.
“We can see that he is really comfortable playing here, and his family. It’s a positive message; the manager and owners have always said that they want to keep our best players.
“At the moment he is probably not just our best player, but the best player in the league. We are glad to have him here, hopefully he will maintain this form for a long time for the club.”
