Luis Suárez believes his return from a 10-game suspension is very important both at a personal level and for the Reds

Luis Suárez believes his return from suspension is key for the Reds despite the Uruguayan failing to prevent a 1-0 loss to Manchester United in the League Cup.

The 26-year-old made his comeback at Old Trafford after serving his 10-game ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in a 2-2 draw with the Blues in April.

The South American forward was lively as he rekindled his partnership with England international Daniel Sturridge, and Suárez came closest to levelling when his free-kick effort hit the crossbar in the second half.

While the Reds striker was disappointed with the result, he vowed to help Liverpool improve over the coming weeks and months after committing his future to the club in August.

“The result is not good because we lost but the feeling is good because we played very well, we created chances and we missed,” Suárez told Liverpool’s website.

“I know it was a difficult moment but for myself and for the team it’s very important I’m back because I can help the team and [being] off the pitch I
can’t. We’ll keep going for the week and for the next game.

“All the time I try my best on the pitch. I’m here to help the team and help Liverpool and I’ll try my best.”
