Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho will only get better, says Jan Molby
Liverpool legend Jan Molby says Philippe Coutinho brings something different to the Reds - and is backing the midfielder to improve
Jan Molby believes Phlippe Coutinho brings “something different” to Liverpool – and is backing the Brazilian to continue his meteoric rise.
The 21-year-old was a half-time substitute in a 2-0 loss to Arsenal at The Emirates on Saturday as the South American made his return from a shoulder operation that had kept him sidelined for six weeks.
Coutinho has scored three goals and made five assists in 19 appearances after sealing a £8.5m move to the 18-time English champions from Inter Milan in the January transfer window.
And Molby backed the Brazil international to get even better over the coming months.
“I don’t think I need to tell any Liverpool fans what Coutinho is capable of as he just brings something different,” Molby told Liverpool’s website.
“He’s different to all the other midfield players that we have; he can go past people and see people early on. We saw it on a couple of occasions when he came on at the Emirates.
“It was obviously a very difficult situation when he came onto the pitch at a time when Arsenal were dominating, but he looked good in possession and I’m convinced he’s only going to get even better.”
