Luis Suarez believes Liverpool are capable of winning the Premier League title.

The Uruguay international, who move to the Reds from Ajax in 2011, has been in scintillating form, scoring six goals in his last five top-flight appearances.

The Reds trail pace-setters Arsenal by five points following a 2-0 loss to the Premier League leaders at Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

But Suarez still feels Liverpool can challenge, especially as the Reds don’t have to contend with the distraction of the Champions League or Europa League.

“The expectation is huge,” Suarez told French radio station RMC.

“This season we started well, with the desire and hope. We do not have to compete in the
European Cup which allows us to concentrate 100% on the championship.

“The Premier League is very tight this season and anything can happen against anyone.”

Meanwhile, Sturridge believes there isn’t a clear favourite to win the Premier League title this season.

“It’s been an amazing start for us,” Sturridge said.

“We just need to continue working hard and continue doing what the manager tells us to do and see where we end up at the end of the season.

“I wouldn’t say there is one definitive team in the league who are going to be favourites to win it.

“Everyone in the top six is in the race. There are a lot of teams playing amazing football, including Southampton, who are up there.

“We’ll just stay focused on ourselves and try our best to play good football.”
