Podolski, Ramsey & more: Twitter reacts as Chelsea hold Arsenal
Lukas Podolski and Aaron Ramsey both tweet their thoughts as Chelsea hold Arsenal to a goalless draw

Chelsea held Arsenal to a goalless draw at a wet and windy Emirates Stadium on Monday as the Gunners moved level on points with league leaders Liverpool.
The Blues enjoyed the best chance of the first half when Frank Lampard saw his shot rebound down off the bar, while the Gunners went close late on but Olivier Giroud was unable to turn home Aaron Ramsey’s cross.
Monday’s blockbuster Premier League clash inevitably prompted plenty of activity on Twitter – and here are our favourite posts after a cagey and uninspiring affair ended all square.
Ex-Bolton midfielder Peter Reid (@reid6peter) is struggling to stay awake: “Nearly dropped off in studio watching this. Ps don’t tell anyone.”
Former Stoke defender Danny Higginbotham (@Higginbotham05) is impressed by the Blues’ work-rate: “Chelsea doing well. Making arsenal make mistakes in there own half by playing a high line. Azpilicueta getting really tight on Walcott.”
Ian Poulter (@IanJamesPoulter) feels that referee Mike Dean is being lenient: “Rosicky, Lampard, and Mikel all deserved yellow cards and probably Mikel could even have gone for that challenge.”
Celebrity Arsenal fan Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) wants to see some changes: “I’d bring Cazorla & Podolski on for 2nd half. #Afc”
Ex-Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann (@DietmarHamann) thinks Arsenal look fatigued: “Arsenal played with virtually the same team since the season started. They looked tired in the last 3 games tweeps. Same tonight so far.”
Without much goalmouth action to report, Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) opts to praise the playing surface: “Emirates pitch looks like a carpet! Nip n tuck this game so far! 0-0 I’m going for!”
QPR’s Joey Barton (@Joey7Barton) says what we’re all thinking: “Needs a goal this…”
Ex-Republic of Ireland international Jason McAteer (@MCATEER4) isn’t impressed by Aaron Ramsey’s display: “Aaron Ramsey is playing like Henry Ramsey from neighbours !! Never seen him give it away so much !!”
Morgan (@piersmorgan) cannot believe that Arsene Wenger has not used any of his substitutes: “Midfield and strikers useless all game and Wenger hasn’t replaced one of them. Shockingly bad management. #Afc”
Ex-England international Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) brings us some perspective after the final whistle: “2 points separate the top 5 at Christmas. And Manchester United aren’t one of them. Bit different this year.”
Midfielder Aaron Ramsey (@aaronramsey) is the first of the Arsenal players to get online after the game: “Disappointing result but probably fair in the end. Conditions didn’t help the game. Joint top, move on and enjoy the run up to Christmas!”
Former England striker Michael Owen (@themichaelowen) has his say: “Fair result. Chelsea better in 1st half and Arsenal better in 2nd. The other title contenders will buzzing with that result.”
And that just leaves unused Arsenal substitute Lukas Podolski (@Podolski10) to have the final say: “Draw tonight, a Derby without goals. Next chance on thursday. Come on AFC!! #afc #gunners #poldi #aha”
