Podolski, Wilshere & more: Twitter reacts as Arsenal beat West Brom
Lukas Podolski and Jack Wilshere both tweet their thoughts after Arsenal move back into the top four thanks to a win at West Brom

Ten-man Arsenal moved back into the top four after Tomas Rosicky scored twice to secure a 2-1 victory at West Bromwich Albion.
Elsewhere, Southampton were 2-0 winners at Reading in the early kick-off, Aston Villa gave their survival hopes a boost with a 3-1 success at struggling Stoke City and Norwich City were held to a draw by Swansea City.
An afternoon of important Premier League clashes inevitably prompted a flurry of activity on Twitter – and here are our favourite updates, in chronological order as always.
Arsenal fan Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) is concerned by Lukasz Fabianski’s methods: “Fabianski’s flapping like a hyperactive seagull. When will we get a goalkeeper who exudes any vague sense of safety? #Arsenal”
Southampton defender Luke Shaw (@Luke_shaw3) is thrilled with a 2-1 victory over Reading: “Great result, clean sheet and moving up the table, lads were quality today and the fans unreal as usual #saintsfc!”
Former Birmingham City midfielder Robbie Savage (@RobbieSavage8) clearly enjoys Matt Lowton’s strike to put Villa back into the lead: “Awwwwwww goal of the season contender!! Lowton! Villa have been great today, with exception of a five-minute spell when Stoke scored! Fair play!”
Ex-Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel (@JUANPABLOANGEL) celebrates Lowton’s goal: “Goooooaaaalllllll WHAT A STRIKE #Mattylowton standing ovation for you son! 1-2 #AVFC”
Another Villa legend Ian Taylor (@IanTaylor7) is delighted with a key three points: “Hats off to the boys after being pegged back. Fully deserved win! #onwardsandupwards #utv #avfc That’s a superb win by the boys! Not many teams go to #scfc and roll them over like that. Worried with equaliser but massive win!! #utv”
Villa midfielder Andreas Weimann (@andiweimann) hails his team-mate: “Booooom what a win !! @matt_lowts oh my strike!! Thanks to the fans as well they were unreal! #utv”
Injured Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere (@JackWilshere) praises his Gunners team-mates: “Great win lads. Strong three points.”
And Lukas Podolski (@Podolski10) was happy with the win despite staying on the bench: “Well done, three points!! On the way back #home #Gunners Poldi!”
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville (@GNev2) is looking forward to analysing the games on his Monday night show: “Good results for Villa, Arsenal, and Southampton. Should make for a good MNF Pre match!! Hopefully more good games tomorrow!”
Ex-Norwich star Iwan Roberts (@iwanwroberts) reckons that could be a big point for the Canaries: “Really good game at Carrow Road, probably a better point for Swansea but could be a vital point for Ncfc come end of the season.”
Morgan (@piersmorgan) is not impressed despite Arsenal’s win: “Trying to get excited about possibly coming 4th. God, it’s hard. #IvanTheTerrible #WengerTheSeller”
And finally, can anyone explain this interaction between Arsenal’s Podolski and pop sensation Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) to us?: “Shout out to lukas podolski. In his home town cologne. What up Jamie hole. We see u”
To which the Arsenal man (@Podolski10) duly replies: “#Welcome to the beautiful city #Cologne @justinbieber All the girls are going crazy! #Rock the #Kölnarena”
