Man City 1 Chelsea 1: Frank Lampard ‘lost for words’ after leveller
Man City 1 Chelsea 1: Frank Lampard admits he is "stuck in the middle" after scoring against his former club
Frank Lampard was “lost for words” after the Manchester City midfielder netted a late equaliser against former club Chelsea.
The first big talking point came in the 65th minute when City right-back Pablo Zabaleta was sent off for a second bookable offence after clashing with Chelsea striker Diego Costa at Etihad Stadium.
I’m a professional and I didn’t expect to come on and score. I’m stuck in the middle

The Blues capitalised on the man advantage with a sweeping move which saw substitute Andre Schurrle guide Eden Hazard’s low cross past City goalkeeper Joe Hart.
But Lampard, who left Chelsea for New York City FC before moving to Citizens on loan in August, levelled within seven minutes of his introduction as he poked a finish past Thibaut Courtois.
“It’s a really difficult one. I’d be unprofessional if I came on and didn’t do my job so I’m mixed with it,” Lampard told Sky Sports.
“I’m obviously pleased that the side I came on for got a draw. It’s come up, I’m a professional and I didn’t expect to come on and score. I’m stuck in the middle.
“The Chelsea fans were singing my name and it was an emotional day. It’s not how I expected to say goodbye to the Chelsea fans. I woke up this morning and didn’t know what I wanted from today so I’m glad it’s out of the way. I guess this a happy medium.”
