Man City 1 Chelsea 1: Lampard love story over, declares Mourinho
Man City 1 Chelsea 1: Jose Mourinho refuses to get swept away in emotion after Frank Lampard's equaliser
Jose Mourinho declared that the Frank Lampard love story was over as soon as he joined Manchester City after the midfielder denied former club Chelsea victory at The Etihad.
The Blues were coasting to three points and a five point lead at the top of the Premier League after Andre Schurrle broke the deadlock following Pablo Zabaleta’s sending off in the 65th minute.

However, Chelsea legend Lampard, who moved to City on a short-term loan from new club New York City FC in August, levelled the clash within seven minutes of his introduction at Eastlands.
The 36-year-old received a generous reception from the Chelsea supporters during and after the stalemate, but Mourinho refused to engage in any nostalgia despite his former player’s strike.
“Frank Lampard is a Man City player, I don’t believe in stories of passion and heart, maybe I am too pragmatic in football,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.
“When he decided to go to a direct competitor to Chelsea then love stories are over. He did his job as a professional.”
Mourinho continued: “He got a good reception and this is England and this is Chelsea. Chelsea people never forget what Chelsea people do at the club.
“It happened to me when I was manager of Inter. The reception was fantastic. It happened with Lampard. It is Chelsea’s culture and beauty.”
