Man City 3 Sunderland 1: Nasri full of pride after League Cup final win
Man City 3 Sunderland 1: Samir Nasri reveals his "pride and joy" after helping the Citizens win the League Cup
Samir Nasri could not hide his “pride and joy” after helping Manchester City beat Sunderland to win the League Cup at Wembley.
Fabio Borini had given Sunderland a perfect start when he put the Black Cats 1-0 up inside 10 minutes.
But City rallied in the second half and equalised thanks to midfielder Yaya Toure’s sumptuous curling shot, before Samir Nasri gave the Citizens the lead shortly after.
I’m really happy and I hope that this cup is going to bring some others
Jesus Navas then added a third in injury time to ensure City won the first piece of silverware of 2014.
“I’m feeling so much joy and so much pride as well,” Nasri told Sky Sports. “I lost two finals that I played here and today it was really important to win.
“I’m really happy and I hope that this cup is going to bring some others.
“I hope it will be a boost for us. We want to win everything. We’re going to compete for the league and the FA Cup and try to do something in the Champions League even if it’s going to be difficult.
“I hope that this cup is going to bring confidence to the team and we’ll fight until the end.”
