Michael Owen is backing Manchester City to ease to a win against Chelsea FC at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Premier League leaders will welcome the defending champions to Eastlands in an attempt to move one win closer to title glory.

Chelsea FC suffered a 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the Premier League last weekend to drop out of the top four.

Willian broke the deadlock at Old Trafford before goals from Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard secured three points for the hosts.

Chelsea FC are two points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the race to secure a spot in the Champions League for next term.

The Blues could finish the weekend five points adrift of Tottenham if Spurs beat Huddersfield Town and Manchester City secure three points against Antonio Conte’s men.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing the Premier League leaders to beat Chelsea FC at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening.

“Chelsea played their part in a very good game at Old Trafford last weekend but it is possible they will start their second game in a week in Manchester five points off a Champions League spot,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Eden Hazard and Willian were outstanding, especially in the first 45 minutes, against United but the worry is the pair are carrying the Blues as an attacking threat of late. City will miss their midfield enforcer Fernandinho through injury, but they have won their last 13 home PL games scoring at least twice on every occasion.

“The League Cup winners have so much class that I cannot see past another home win.”

Manchester City were 3-0 winners against Arsenal in the League Cup final at Wembley last weekend following goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva at the home of English football.

The Citizens are looking to win their third Premier League title but first under Pep Guardiola.
