Mario Balotelli will remain at Manchester City in a bid to become a “key player” for the Premier League champions, according to the striker’s agent.

The 22-year-old has scored just once in 13 Premier League games this term, with City manager Roberto Mancini preferring Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez to the Italian forward.

His slip down the pecking order has prompted speculation linking the controversial striker with a return to Serie A amid reports of interest from his former club Internazionale.

However, Balotelli’s agent, Mino Raiola, insists he will stay at the Eastlands outfit and try to improve his performances in order to gain a regular starting spot.

“Balotelli? He will remain at Manchester City with the goal of becoming a key player,” Raiola told Sky Italia.

“He has to improve something, but he need to feel confidence.”

Raiola also ruled out a return to Italy and claimed that there is no interest in his client from Inter or any other Serie A club.

“He asked to come back to Italy two years ago, but not anymore and not now,” he added.
