Man City transfers: Willy Caballero claims Manuel Pellegrini interest
Man City transfers: Malaga goalkeeper Willy Caballero claims Manuel Pellegrini wanted to sign him in the summer

Willy Caballero has claimed Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini wanted to bring the Malaga goalkeeper to The Etihad this summer.
Current Citizens No1 Joe Hart has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks after a string of high-profile errors, including a poor display in a 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich.
Unsurprisingly, there has been renewed speculation linking the Chilean with a swoop for Caballero in the January transfer window – and the 32-year-old says his old boss was interested in acquiring his services this summer.
“I spoke to Pellegrini before he left Malaga. I know of his intention to take me with him but I was unsure whether he would stick with the goalkeepers he had or play me,” Caballero is quoted as saying by Daily Mail.
Last week, Pellegrini issued his backing for under-fire England international Hart following a 3-1 victory over Everton.
“It was not an easy game for Joe Hart but he did not have too much work,” Pellegrini told BBC Sport.
“He is mentally strong is Joe. I spoke long with him after the match against Bayern Munich, it was not an easy decision for me to take because I was not sure how he would react but
after talking with him I felt he had the character to play today and I am very happy for him.
“I am always talking with the players and my staff, it was a decision I decided yesterday but how near, it doesn’t matter, he played.”
