Michael Owen states his prediction for Man City v Aston Villa
Michael Owen looks ahead to Man City's home clash with Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday
Michael Owen is backing Manchester City to claim a comfortable win over Aston Villa in their Premier League clash at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Citizens are preparing to welcome the newly-promoted side to The Etihad as they look to bounce back from their shock 2-0 defeat by Wolves in their most recent home Premier League game.
Manchester City have since responded to that setback by claiming a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace and sealing a 5-1 victory over Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Pep Guardiola’s men are still keeping pace with Liverpool FC in the title race, although they currently find themselves six points behind the Reds after nine games of the new campaign.
Manchester City have won three and lost two of their last five Premier League games – but former Liverpool FC and England striker Owen is tipping them to have too much for Aston Villa in their home clash at The Etihad on Saturday lunchtime.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Back-to-back Premier League wins for Aston Villa but I would be surprised if they landed the hat-trick when they visit the Etihad in Saturday’s early kick-off.
“Yes, City lost their last home league game to Wolves, but I was impressed with their performance at Selhurst Park at the weekend.
“I don’t expect to see Pep Guardiola’s side make any mistakes against a Villa side who had 24 attempts at goal against Brighton at the weekend and may find the back of the City net.”
Manchester City are aiming to try and win the Premier League title for the third straight season this term after they ended up just a single point ahead of Liverpool FC last term.
The Citizens have the best attacking record in the league this season, having scored 29 goals in nine games – which is eight more than Liverpool FC.
