Man City’s Manuel Pellegrini never doubted win at West Ham
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini insists he was confident the Citizens would always seal three points at Upton Park
Manuel Pellegrini says he never doubted Manchester City’s ability to secure a rare away win after sealing a 3-1 victory at West Ham United on Saturday.
The Citizens, who have already lost at Cardiff City and Aston Villa this term, opened the scoring at Upton Park when Sergio Aguero slotted a finish past Jussi Jääskeläinen.
The Argentine netted his second shortly after half-time and David Silva sealed the win after Ricardo Vaz Te had given the Hammers slim hope of rescuing a point from the clash.
“Winning the game was the most important thing for us. We played very well, and the best player for West Ham was their goalkeeper,” Pellegrini told BBC Sport.
“We played as well as we did against Aston Villa [when City lost 3-2]. Someone asked me if I needed to change the way we played away, and I do not think so.
“This team should always play in attacking way because of the players we have.
“We were absolutely sure playing the way we were, we would win away. We lost against Cardiff and Aston Villa, but football is like that.”
