Jose Mourinho sends clear update to Man United fans about Paul Pogba
Jose Mourinho delivers the latest update about Paul Pogba's injury situation at Manchester United
Jose Mourinho has insisted that Manchester United are still waiting to discover how long Paul Pogba will be out of action for with a hamstring injury.
The French midfielder sat out Manchester United’s 4-0 win over Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday after suffering a hamstring strain during the 3-0 win over Basel in the Champions League last week.
There had been reports that Pogba could be out of action for a number of weeks, but Mourinho has insisted that the Red Devils are still waiting to discover the extent of the problem.
Speaking at his post-match news conference at Old Trafford on Sunday, Mourinho said: “I don’t know if it is 12 weeks or 12 days, honestly.
“Any comment or any new rumour is totally wrong because we don’t know if it is 12 weeks or 12 days. The player was diagnosed initially after the match because of the conditions of the muscle and the bleeding.
“The decision was one more week to wait to see really clearly in the scans, that I mentioned, of the injury.
“Nobody in this club spoke about 12 days or 12 weeks. Not at all. In the hamstring, it’s a normal procedure and we wait a few more days. So it’s completely nonsense information.”
Goals from Antonio Valencia, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial wrapped up a comfortable victory for Manchester United against Everton on Sunday.
Mourinho is now preparing his side for their League Cup third-round clash against Burton at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils will then turn their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their trip to St Mary’s to take on Southampton next weekend.
Mourinho’s men have made a fine start to the new season, and are currently joint top of the Premier League table along with local rivals Manchester City.
