Neville: 27-year-old Man United star reminds me of Arsenal legend
Man United goalkeeper David De Gea reminds me of Arsenal legend David Seaman, Phil Neville claims
Phil Neville has likened Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea to Arsenal legend David Seaman.
The Spain international has been in excellent form in the 2017-18 season to continue his progress at Old Trafford.
De Gea equalled a Premier League record with 14 saves in Manchester United’s 3-1 win against Arsenal in north London last weekend.
The 27-year-old has helped Manchester United secure the best defensive record in the Premier League thanks to his consistent performances in goal.
Former Manchester United defender Neville likened De Gea’s style of goalkeeping to Arsenal icon Seaman following his impressive performance at The Emirates.
“The most impressive thing about De Gea is his temperament,” Neville told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“He is like David Seaman. He is calm. He is cool. He makes a mistake sometimes but he is still in control.”
Manchester United signed De Gea in an £18m deal from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in the 2011 summer transfer window.
De Gea was part of the Manchester United side that won the Premier League under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
The Spanish shot stopper has also got his hands on the Europa League, the FA Cup and the League Cup in the last two seasons.
