Gary Neville says the Manchester United team have been a let down so far this season.

The Red Devils have made a poor start to the Premier League season despite spending nearly £150m on three new signings.

However, the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Daniel James hasn’t elevated Manchester United to another level.

Manchester United battled to a 1-1 draw with Premier League leaders Liverpool FC at Old Trafford last weekend.

Solskjaer’s side have already lost to Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and West Ham this term, while drawing four times.

Manchester United are already 15 points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool FC after nine games.

In fact, only two points separation Manchester United and the relegation zone.

Former Manchester United defender Neville says the Red Devils have been a big disappointment so far this term.

“They absolutely could [drop out of the top six],” Neville told Sky Sports.

“I always worry a little bit when you come out of a big game which is easy to get up for and a reaction was needed, when you say “I was proud of my players today” because you need to be proud of your players every single week.

“You couldn’t be more confident going into the game against Norwich than you were against Liverpool.

“Manchester United have let you down this season. West Ham, Southampton, other games of this nature where they’ve been really poor.

“Can those players get up for those games, can they break teams down who defend deep and counter-attack on them?”

Manchester United have only scored 10 times in nine Premier League games so far this season, while the Red Devils have conceded nine goals.

The 20-time English champions were 1-0 winners against Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Solskjaer’s side will make the trip to promoted side Norwich City at Carrow Road on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United finished in sixth spot in the Premier League last term.
