Gary Neville sends reassuring message to Man United fans about Jose Mourinho
The former Man United star has reiterated the reason Jose Mourinho was brought in and has tried to calm fears brought about by Jose Mourinho’s recent public spat with the board

Gary Neville has assured fans that Manchester United still plan on winning the league under Jose Mourinho, and the Portuguese is not just there to ease the transition in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Tensions have emerged between Mourinho and the board in recent weeks over the club’s lack of transfer activity as they seek to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool FC.
Manchester United have won both the Europa League and League Cup under Mourinho so far before a 1-0 loss to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last term.
But former Manchester United defender Neville states that neither Mourinho nor the board see this as the endgame achieved.
Neville told Sky Sports: “Jose was brought in to win a league. That’s it.
“Forget the Europa League and the League Cup. They were good stepping stones In the first season.
“The three-year project was to win the Premier League title. He is a serial winner.”
Neville’s comments come in a time of turmoil at Old Trafford as the club struggled to match the ambitions of rivals Man City and Liverpool.
However, an opening day win over a very good Leicester side showed that Mourinho is still capable of operating in the media whirlwind around him.
Whilst he will not admit it right now, he will aim to bring the Premier League title back to Old Trafford this season for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
He has won the league at every club he has been at during his decorated managerial career, and Neville made it clear that both Mourinho and club intends this trend to continue.
