Luke Shaw pinpoints why ‘outstanding’ Man United lost 3-0 to Tottenham
The Manchester United star explains why the Red Devils lost to Tottenham on Monday night

Luke Shaw was left to rue Manchester United’s failure to capitalise on their ‘outstanding; first-half performance after Monday night’s 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils were looking to bounce back from a 3-2 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium to lose ground on Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC and Manchester City.
Manchester United produced a positive first-half performance but the Red Devils were unable to make the breakthrough despite their best effort ahead f the break.
England international Harry Kane broke the deadlock in 50th minute before Brazil forward Lucas Moura scored two goals in the final half hour to seal three points.
Jose Mourinho and his Manchester United players are coming under pressure following their subdued second-half performance.
Speaking to Manchester United’s website after their 3-0 loss to Spurs on Monday night, Shaw said:
“You look at the first half and I think we were outstanding.
“We had a lot of chances to put the game to bed. Of the chances we had, [we should have scored] maybe one or two, then for me it would have been ‘game over’.
“We spoke at half-time and Jose [Mourinho] said they hadn’t had one corner, one cross or one dangerous opportunity. Then, from their first corner in the second half they had a goal, but even then we should have been relaxed because it was only one goal and we still had a lot of time. But then came another mistake, another silly, stupid goal. We were so on top and it is just really disappointing, everyone in the dressing room is really sad, especially after the first half we had.”
Shaw moved to Manchester United in a £27m deal from Southampton in the 2014 summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old earned praise from his manager for his individual performance in Manchester United’s 3-0 loss to Spurs.
Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2012-13 season.
The Red Devils finished the 2017-18 campaign without a trophy following a 1-0 loss to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final.
