Paul Ince has challenged Marcus Rashford to score between 20 and 25 goals for Manchester United this season.

The England international is under added pressure at Manchester United this season after the Red Devils sold Romelu Lukaku in a big-money deal to Serie A giants Inter Milan without recruiting a replacement.

Manchester United made the perfect start to the new Premier League season following a 4-0 victory over their bitter rivals Chelsea FC at Old Trafford last weekend.

Rashford scored either side of half-time to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side keep pace with Premier League title challengers Manchester City and Liverpool FC.

The English striker has never previously scored more than 13 goals in an individual season to highlight the size of the task facing the 22-year-old Manchester United star.

Former Manchester United midfielder Ince has outlined how many goals Rashford needs to score in the 2019-20 season to fill the void left by Lukaku.

“It’s a tough one with Romelu Lukaku, because the fact of the matter is he is always going to score you goals. Last season you could see the signs that he wasn’t happy, that he wanted to leave,” Ince told Paddy Power.

“There were signs that the end was approaching for him, but what he does offer is guaranteed goals in the net. As a club, for United to suddenly lose 20 or so goals that he nets, that’s a big loss and they should have replaced him – his goals will be missed.

“It puts a lot of pressure on Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. In my eyes, for United to be performing well, Rashford needs to be netting 20-25 goals this season and I’m not yet sure if he’ll do that.”

Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League last term, missing out on Champions League football for the second time in three campaigns.

The Red Devils are currently in second position in the English top flight behind defending champions Manchester City.

Manchester United will make the trip to Wolves in their next Premier League fixture on Monday night.
