Steven Gerrard admits that there doesn't look like there's a way back for Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Man United

Steven Gerrard has admitted that there doesn’t look like there’s a way back for Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Manchester United this season.
The Armenia international made a flying start to the new campaign and earned plenty of praise for his performances in the opening few weeks of the new season.
However, a slump in form has prompted Jose Mourinho to drop the playmaker in recent games, with his last substitute appearance for the Red Devils coming during the 1-0 win over Brighton on 25 November.
Mkhitaryan was once again left out of the matchday squad altogether for Manchester United’s 2-1 Champions League win over CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night.
And former Liverpool FC star Gerrard has admitted that he has been surprised to see Mkhitaryan fall down the pecking order this season after his strong start to the new campaign.
Speaking to BT Sport on Tuesday night, Gerrard said: “At the moment it doesn’t look like there’s a way back [for Mkhitaryan].
“But at the beginning of the season he was quality and was one of Manchester United’s best players.”
Mkhitaryan will be hoping to be involved when Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday with a crunch clash against Manchester City at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils head into the game knowing that a win would move them to within five points of Pep Guardiola’s Premier League leaders.
