Jose Mourinho hints Henrikh Mkhitaryan could return to Man United side in League Cup
The Manchester United boss opens up about Henrikh Mkhitaryan's future at Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho has hinted that Henrikh Mkhitaryan could return to the Manchester United team for their League Cup quarter-final at Ashton Gate on Wednesday night.
The Armenia international has been frozen out at Old Trafford over the past month or so falling a disappointing few months for the former Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder at the Red Devils.
Mkhitaryan made a bright start to the current campaign following a return of five assists in his opening three Premier League games against West Ham United, Swansea City and Leicester City.
The 29-year-old Armenian playmaker hasn’t started for the 20-time English champions since a 1-0 loss to Premier League title holders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge back at the end of October.
The big-money signing was a late substitute in a 1-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford at the end of November.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference about the possibility of Mkhitaryan starting against Bristol City in their League Cup quarter-final on Wednesday night, Mourinho said:
“He [Mkhitaryan] can [be back].
“I am making a few changes for the match, but not many because Bristol City are one of the best teams in the Championship.
“For me now, the Championship is not the Championship of five or 10 years ago. The Championship is now high-quality teams with lots of players that could be playing in the Premier League easily. So we need to take the game really seriously. I am going to make a few changes and it is possible Micki is involved.”
Mkhitaryan has scored two goals and has made six assists in 13 starts and three substitute appearances in all competitions this term.
Manchester United won the League Cup last term after a 3-2 victory over Southampton at Wembley.
