Jamie Redknapp believes Manchester United duo Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba no longer trust each other.

The Red Devils boss has used Pogba sparingly in recent months due to the midfielder’s perceived lack of defensive sense.

The France international struggled in a midfield pair alongside Nemanja Matic, notably in a 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley in the Premier League back in February.

The 20-time English champions crashed out of the Champions League at the round of 16 but Pogba started both legs on the bench following a 2-1 loss to Spanish outfit Sevilla.

Pogba has been linked with a potential exit at the end of the 2017-18 season after falling out of favour under Mourinho.

The Portuguese head coach has used 21-year-old Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay in a midfield role alongside Matic ahead of Pogba.

Former Liverpool FC captain Redknapp believes Mourinho and Pogba no longer have faith in each other.

“Pogba and Jose Mourinho have 100 per cent lost trust in each other,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.

“I don’t see how the issue can be resolved. Pogba will never forgive Mourinho for what he’s done because he’s publicly humiliated him by putting players like Marouane Fellaini ahead of him.

“There’s no trust there from Mourinho either. I think in my era you could’ve swallowed it and gone ‘that’s fine – we’ll move on’ but I don’t think that happens with players anymore.

“I think his agent will already be talking about what happens with Pogba going forward – he could move somewhere else if Mourinho stays.

“I think we’re at a critical stage in the relationship between the player and the manager – it’s a shame.”

Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table and two points ahead of Liverpool FC.

The Red Devils were 2-0 winners against Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup quarter-finals at Old Trafford last weekend.

Manchester United signed Chile international Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
