Paul Scholes names Man United player who has lost Jose Mourinho’s trust
The Man United legend believes Jose Mourinho's lost some faith in Paul Pogba
Paul Scholes believes Jose Mourinho has lost some of his trust in Manchester United record signing Paul Pogba.
The France international has been at the centre of a debate surrounding his best position in the Manchester United team over the past couple of weeks.
Pogba has been utilised as a part of a two-man midfield alongside Nemanja Matic but the Frenchman has been exposed for his lack of defensive ability.
Indeed, Mourinho substituted Pogba midway through the second half of their losses at Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
The 24-year-old’s poor performances and apparent fallout with Mourinho prompted speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford little over 18 months after his club record £89m move back to Manchester United from Serie A giants Juventus.
Pogba is the most expensive signing of Mourinho’s reign at the Theatre of Dreams but the Portuguese coach appears to be losing patience with the France midfielder’s ill discipline alongside Matic.
Former Manchester United star Scholes believes Mourinho has lost some of his faith in Pogba.
“I think Mourinho’s lost a bit of trust in him,” Scholes told BT Sport.
“He doesn’t play the position particularly well defensively. He’s got all the attributes going forward – he’s got great ability. Mourinho wants that solidity in midfield.”
Manchester United will welcome fourth-placed Chelsea in their next Premier League game at Old Trafford on Sunday as the Red Devils look to cement their place in the top four.
