Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists there is nothing he can do to rekindle Alexis Sanchez’s form at Manchester United.

The Chile international started the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash on the bench at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

The Manchester United interim manager turned to Sanchez in added time at the end of the first half to replace injured Jesse Lingard.

The 30-year-old was unable to have an impact on the Champions League clash as Kylian Mbappe and Presnel Kimpembe netted second-half goals.

Sanchez has scored one goal in eight starts and nine substitute appearances in all competitions in the current campaign.

While the appointment of Solskjaer has rekindled the form of players such as Martial and Paul Pogba, the Norwegian coach has yet to get the best out of Sanchez.

The Manchester United interim manager admitted that the Chile forward needs to find his feet at the 20-time English champions.

“I can’t do anything about Alexis Sanchez, when he plays, he needs to find himself, because we know there is a quality player there,” Solskjaer told his post-match media conference at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Manchester United signed Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal in the 2018 January transfer window.

Sanchez moved to Old Trafford as Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan moved in the other direction.

The Red Devils will take on Chelsea FC in the FA Cup fifth round at Stamford Bridge next Monday.

Manchester United have only lost one of their 12 games under Solskjaer so far.
