Solskjaer gives latest Man United injury update ahead of Arsenal clash
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Man United striker Marcus Rashford could return to action sooner than expected
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is optimistic that Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford could return ahead of schedule from his groin injury.
The England international sustained the problem in the first half of Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to West Ham United at the London Stadium last weekend.
Rashford had to sit out Manchester United’s penalty shootout victory over League Two side Rochdale in the League Cup third round at Old Trafford in mid-week.
The 21-year-old is expected to sit out Manchester United’s home clash against Arsenal in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Monday night as he continues his recovery.
However, Man United boss Solskjaer is confident that Rashford could return from injury sooner than expected ahead of October’s international break.
“He’s recovering,” Solskjaer is quoted as saying by Metro.
“He’s not very, very bad so we hope to see him before the international break.”
Manchester United are light in the attacking department after the Red Devils decided to sell Belgium international to Serie A giants Inter Milan in the summer.
Alexis Sanchez completed a loan move to the San Siro outfit, too.
Manchester United suffered a 2-0 loss to West Ham on Sunday to leave Solskjaer’s side 10 points adrift of Liverpool FC after a mere six games.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on Champions League football under Solskjaer.
