Jamie Redknapp has urged Jose Mourinho to allow Paul Pogba to play expansive football at Manchester United.
The Red Devils signed Pogba in an £89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Pogba won the Europa League and the League Cup in 2016-17 season, including a goal in a 2-0 win over Ajax in the European showpiece.
The 25-year-old endured a difficult second season at Old Trafford following regular criticism from his manager Jose Mourinho.
Pogba was omitted from Manchester United’s side for their 2-1 loss to La Liga side Sevilla in the Champions League last 16.
The club record signing excelled in the World Cup after Pogba scored in France’s 4-2 win over Croatia in the final.
FC Barcelona were linked with a potential swoop to sign Pogba in the 2018 summer transfer window but a deal didn’t materialise.
Former Liverpool FC captain Redknapp believes Mourinho needs to give Pogba more freedom to shine in the Red Devils team.
“Jose has to find a way of getting Pogba to play expansive football and looking like he enjoys his football,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
Pogba won four successive Serie A titles during his spell at Juventus following his move to the Turin side in an £800,000 deal.
Manchester United re-signed Pogba in a club record £89m deal from the Italian giants.
