Roy Keane has described Paul Pogba as a “big problem” for Manchester United.

The France international acquitted himself reasonably well in Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to defending Premier League champions Manchester City in the derby at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

While Pogba was able to keep hold of possession and take the sting out of the game at times, the French midfielder didn’t manage to influence the Manchester derby in a positive way for the home side.

The 26-year-old has been disappointing in recent months amid persistent speculation linking the World Cup winner with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid at the end of the Premier League season.

Pogba initially excellent under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but the club record signing has failed to score a goal from open play or make an assist in his last 10 games in all competitions for the Red Devils.

Former Manchester United captain Keane didn’t hold back in his assessment of the France international after Wednesday night’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City.

“The guy is a talented boy, but we’re saying the same thing over and over again,” Keane told Sky Sports.

“The number of times we’ve seen him in games where he is not sprinting or running back. He’s a big problem for United.

“Graeme (Souness) spoke earlier about needing good senior players at your football club. He’s a senior player, played in big competitions and won big trophies.

“I don’t think he leads by example, from what I see. I don’t know what he’s like on the training ground or when they’re travelling, but from what I see. He mentioned body language and pride, but I don’t see it in his performances. My eyes don’t lie to me.”

Manchester United re-signed Pogba in an £89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window.

The Red Devils haven’t won the Champions League or the Premier League since Pogba’s return to the club.
