Ian Wright claims Paulo Dybala deliberately priced himself out of a move to Manchester United
Ian Wright has claimed that Paulo Dybala purposefully priced himself out of a move to Manchester United.
The Juventus forward was regularly linked with a move to Manchester United over the past month before the Premier League’s deadline day last week.
However, Manchester United were unwilling to treble the Argentine forward’s wages despite their eagerness to sign a striker before Romelu Lukaku’s departure.
Dybala’s move to Old Trafford didn’t come to fruition as Manchester United were left without a replacement for the Belgium international, who moved to Inter Milan.
Former Arsenal striker Wright has claimed that Dybala deliberately made lavish wage demand to force Manchester United to end their interest in the Juventus striker.
“I think Manchester United would never have a problem attracting people once they want them,” Wright told BBC Radio Five Live.
“I think Paulo Dybala didn’t want to come here and the demand was just to make sure he didn’t want to come here.
“I don’t see Paulo Dybala as being the guy at Man United.
“Getting Paulo Dybala in a makeweight thing for Lukaku, I’m not sure, I don’t think he would’ve been good at United.
“I think he asked for that kind of money simply because he knew he wouldn’t get it.”
