Pep Guardiola would be successful at Manchester United if the Manchester City boss was in charge at Old Trafford, Ian Wright has claimed.
The Citizens set a new Premier League record for an individual season with their 14th successive Premier League win at Old Trafford earlier this month.
Indeed, Manchester City were 2-1 winners against Manchester United thanks to goals from David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi either side of half-time.
Guardiola’s side moved 11 points clear at the top of the table thanks to their derby victory to prompt some pundits to describe the title race as effectively over.
The Eastlands outfit have since beaten Swansea City, Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League to take their winning steak to 17 games.
Indeed, the Citizens are 13 points ahead of their closest challengers Manchester United.
Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho has been criticised for his negative tactics this season, particularly when Manchester United have come up against their title rivals.
The 20-time English champions have lost to Chelsea and Manchester City, while Mourinho’s side were forced to settle for a point at Liverpool FC.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Guardiola would be able to transform Manchester United into title favourites if the ex-Barcelona manager was in charge at Old Trafford.
“If Pep was a Man United manager, it would be a different Man United,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“They’ve got the players to do what Man City are doing.”
Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils were linked with Guardiola before he opted to take over the reins at the Eastlands outfit.
