Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes Paul Pogba has silenced his critics after the Manchester United star helped France win the World Cup.

The 25-year-old made six appearances throughout the World Cup to help Didier Deschamps’ side reach their first final since 2006.

The Manchester United club record signing scored a brilliant goal in France’s 4-2 win over Croatia in last weekend’s World Cup showpiece.

Pogba has struggled to justify his £89m transfer fee since his return to Manchester United from Serie A giants Juventus in 2016.

Jose Mourinho was critical of the French midfielder’s performances in the 2017-18 season to fuel speculation surrounding his future.

Pogba has been linked with a potential move to FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The France star has also been touted with an interest in a potential return to Juventus following Cristiano Ronaldo’s move.

Former Manchester United striker Ibrahimovic raved about Pogba ahead of the new Premier League season.

“I played with him for two years and people like to give their opinion, which they have the right to do,” Ibrahimovic told Sky Sports.

“They judge but I think the result speaks for itself.

“You don’t need to answer by your mouth, you can answer by your feet, and do what you are good at. That is the way it is supposed to be and the way I like to do it.

“He is young. He won the World Cup, he was in the Champions League final (with Juventus), the Europa League final (with United), the European (Championship) final (with France) – and he won many titles at Juventus.

“What more is there to say? Just enjoy the games and I know he will become better.”

Manchester United lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final last term to finish the season without silverware.

The Red Devils ended up in second place in the Premier League table to secure their best finish since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
