Robbie Savage identifies two Man United stars who need to improve
The former Leicester star pinpoints Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez as two Manchester United players who need to improve
Robbie Savage believes Manchester United duo Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez aren’t performing at an acceptable level.
The Red Devils made Pogba the most expensive player in the world when Manchester United spent £89m on the versatile Juventus midfielder.
Pogba won the Europa League and the League Cup in his first season back at Old Trafford despite failing to replicate his impressive Serie A form.
The Frenchman has struggled during the 2017-18 season to culminate in Jose Mourinho dropping his record signing to the bench in recent months.
Manchester United managed to see off competition from Manchester City to sign Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Sanchez has scored one goal in 11 appearances in all competitions since his move to Old Trafford to raise questions about his form in the club’s famous number seven shirt.
Former Leicester star Savage spoke of his disappointment at the recent form of Pogba and Sanchez at Manchester United.
“Alexis Sanchez is far better than what he’s showing,” Savage told BT Sport.
“Paul Pogba is far better than he’s showing. They’ve got personality and character, yet they’re not performing.
“They can take games by the scruff of the neck. Why aren’t they doing it?”
Manchester United lost 2-1 to Spanish side Sevilla in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash at Old Trafford last week.
The Red Devils can still finish Mourinho’s second season with some silverware if Manchester United triumph in the FA Cup.
