Rio Ferdinand sends message to Man United fans about next season
Rio Ferdinand says there are plenty of reasons for Manchester United fans to be optimistic ahead of next season

Rio Ferdinand is confident that Manchester United will enjoy a significant improvement next season under Jose Mourinho.
The Red Devils enjoyed a relatively successful debut campaign under the Portuguese coach last term as they won the Europa League and EFL Cup to secure their return to the Champions League.
However, they struggled to find consistent form in the Premier League under Mourinho and eventually ended up in sixth place in the table.
Manchester United will go straight into the Champions League group stage, however, after their Europa League final win over Ajax last month.
The Red Devils have already signalled their intentions to improve their squad this summer with the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica.
And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand feels that there are plenty of reasons for Red Devils fans to be optimistic moving forwards.
“For what he [Mourinho] was asked to do you got to say he was a success,” Ferdinand is quoted as saying by the Daily Express.
“But finishing sixth, when you look at it like that, and you didn’t have all the other stuff, you would say it would be a disappointing season.
“I think this is a season where he gets a little bit of respite and it’s time to continue and build.
“I definitely think there’s been an improvement in the way the team’s played. The idea of going to Old Trafford isn’t boring like it was for the last couple of years.
“I didn’t enjoy watching Manchester United the last couple of years. This season has been better, so you hope that will continue.”
Manchester United will be looking to further bolster their squad in the summer transfer window as they prepare for a return to the Champions League next season.
