The Arsenal legend believes Romelu Lukaku needs to improve his hold up play to become a top Manchester United striker
Ian Wright has warned Romelu Lukaku that he has to improve to become a better striker at Manchester United.
The Belgium international moved to the Red Devils in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Everton last summer.
The Red Devils managed to see off competition from defending Premier League champions Chelsea FC in Lukaku.
The 24-year-old netted nine times in 10 games in all competitions at the start of the season to silence his critics.
However, the Belgian forward has only netted 10 goals in his last 29 games to prompt criticisim of his overall play.
Lukaku scored and made an assist in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea FC at Old Trafford last weekend.
The summer signing’s goal was his first against one of the Premier League’s top five in the current campaign.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Lukaku still has plenty of room to improve despite an encouraging performance last weekend.
“He has to get better,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live. “People will go back to who he has scored against because it is there for everyone to see.
“The only way that is going to get better is when he completes his game by making sure when he gets the ball, people can’t get it off him and he doesn’t lose it as easily as he does.”
Lukaku netted 24 goals in 35 games in the Premier League during his final season at Everton.
