Man United will challenge for the title next season, says ex-defender
Manchester United will be contenders for the Premier League title next season, says Denis Irwin

Manchester United will be Premier League title contenders next season, according to Denis Irwin.
The Red Devils struggled to find consistent form last term in the top flight following Jose Mourinho’s appointment at Old Trafford.
Mourinho was tasked with steering Manchester United back into the top four in his first campaign in charge but their inconsistent form led to them ending up in sixth place in the table.
However, the Portuguese coach still managed to deliver Champions League football at Old Trafford by winning the Europa League title.
Manchester United have not won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013 and former Red Devils star Irwin feels that pushing for the main domestic trophy must be the club’s aim next season.
Irwin told the Manchester Evening News, as quoted by Metro: “The manager signed four fantastic players last year.
“You hope the ones coming in [this summer] have the same impact as last year and we can move on and compete for the Premier League. That has to be the goal.
“We had a fantastic season the way we finished off winning the Europa League in Stockholm and catapulting us back into the Champions League. Now we have to look to go forward.”
Manchester United have been linked with a host of players in the summer transfer window but have so far only completed the signing of defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica.
