Pundit sends warning to Gareth Bale about Man United link
Stan Collymore warns Gareth Bale that Manchester United won't be winning the Premier League in the near future
Stan Collymore has warned Gareth Bale that Manchester United won’t be in a position to win the Premier League title in the next two or three seasons even if Jose Mourinho signs the Real Madrid star.
The Wales international has been linked with a surprise move to Manchester United this summer after a stop-start La Liga campaign under Zinedine Zidane.
Bale started 19 times in Real Madrid’s title-winning campaign but could only contribute seven goals and two assists in an injury-hit campaign.
The Wales captain didn’t start the Champions League final last weekend but was a substitute in a 4-1 win against Serie A giants Juventus.
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season after a mixed domestic campaign under new boss Jose Mourinho.
However, the Red Devils did secure a place in next season’s Champions League thanks to a 2-0 win against Eredivisie side Ajax in Stockholm.
Speaking to Daily Mirror about Bale’s potential move to Manchester United, Collymore highlighted one reason why Bale might have a reservation or two about moving to Old Trafford.
“Of course, should Bale join United, then he might not have more than an outside chance of winning the Premier League title in the next two or three seasons,” Collymore said.
“And arguably there’s NO chance of him winning the Champions League in that period.”
