Club would prefer to sell Romelu Lukaku to Man United ahead of Chelsea – report

Everton would rather sell Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United than Chelsea, according to reports in the British media.

The Independent is reporting that Everton are open to a deal with the Red Devils for their star striker ahead of the official opening of the 2017 summer transfer window.

The same article states that Everton are hoping to bring Chris Smalling and Sergio Romero to Goodison Park as part of a deal that would see Lukaku reunite with his former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The same story reveals that Chelsea are understood to be leading the race to sign the Belgium international but Everton could look to do business with Manchester United instead of the Premier League champions.

Chelsea sold Lukaku to Everton in a £27m deal in the 2014 summer transfer window after Mourinho failed to guarantee the centre-forward regular first-team football.
