Paul Merson states his prediction for Man United v Liverpool FC
The Arsenal legend is backing Liverpool FC to leave Manchester United with a positive result
Paul Merson is backing Liverpool FC to ease to a positive result at Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds are in third place in the Premier League but a mere two points behind Manchester United, who occupy the runners-up spot.
Liverpool FC have the chance to hoist themselves above Jose Mourinho’s side with eight games to go in the Premier League this term.
The Merseyside outfit have won their last three Premier League games and are unbeaten since a surprise 1-0 loss to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in January.
Liverpool FC were left frustrated after a goalless draw with a negative Manchester United side at Anfield back in October.
Jose Mourinho hasn’t beaten Liverpool FC since taking over the reins at Manchester United from Louis van Gaal in 2016.
Former Arsenal star Merson is confident that Liverpool FC will leave Old Trafford with at least a point in their bitter Premier League clash this weekend.
“I can’t see Liverpool losing,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“It’s a game where the first goal is massive, but Liverpool score and have plenty of pace in the team. They’re playing well and have confidence. I don’t think Manchester United will be able to cope with them at the back.”
Merson added: “United won’t open it up, I don’t see that happening at all. If they win, they’ll probably get second, but if Liverpool do I think they’ll definitely end up coming runners-up.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term after Klopp secured a return to the Champions League in his first full season.
The Reds haven’t won the English top flight crown since 1990.
