David De Gea is backing Manchester United to beat Manchester City in the derby at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils will welcome the Premier League leaders at the Theatre of Dreams looking to end Manchester City’s incredible winning run in the English top flight.
The Premier League leaders are eight points clear of Mourinho’s men in the title race following last-gasp victories over Huddersfield Town, Southampton and West Ham.
Manchester City are looking to set a new Premier League record with a 14th successive top-flight win at Old Trafford this weekend.
The Citizens have won 14 of their 15 games in the 2017-18 Premier League campaign and only Everton have managed to take points off Pep Guardiola’s free-scoring side.
Manchester City will have to find a way past De Gea after the Manchester United goalkeeper equalled a Premier League record with 14 saves in a 3-1 win at Arsenal at The Emirates last weekend.
De Gea is confident Mourinho’s side will beat Manchester City at Old Trafford to secure a vital three points in the Premier League title race.
“It’s a derby, we have confidence, we feel really strong and we want to win,” De Gea told Sky Sports.
“The team is in a good moment, we won two difficult away games so we have confidence and we know we play an important game. We really want to win.”
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term but won the Europa League and the League Cup.
