Michael Carrick has admitted that he was left in awe of Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean’s sparkling performance for the Red Devils in their FA Cup win over Yeovil on Friday night.

Sanchez has been getting used to life at Old Trafford after having finally completed his transfer to the Red Devils from Arsenal last week, as part of the same deal which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan head in the other direction.

The 29-year-old made his debut for the Red Devils during the 4-0 FA Cup fourth-round victory over Yeovil and put in an impressive performance despite not getting on the score-sheet.

Sanchez was named as the man of the match following his strong display for Jose Mourinho’s men.

And midfielder Carrick, who captained the Red Devils on Friday night, was hugely impressed by what he saw from Sanchez in the FA Cup fourth-round clash.

Speaking to MUTV, Carrick said: “He is not bad is he? Not bad for a little man. He is going to be a terrific player, he is a proper Man United player, and it’s great to have him here.

“He is so exciting and so dynamic. He’s always looking to create opportunities, to play forward and the fans are going to enjoy watching him, hopefully we will enjoy playing with him.”

Sanchez will be hoping to feature once again for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Wednesday night with a crunch clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

The Red Devils are currently second and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 24 games of the new season.
