Gary Neville predicts where Man United, Man City will finish in title race
The Man United legend believes the Red Devils' 1-0 win against Tottenham gives Jose Mourinho's side a "better chance" of winning the title

Gary Neville believes Manchester United’s 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur has given Jose Mourinho’s side a much better chance of winning the Premier League title this season.
The Red Devils welcomed their top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon as Manchester United looked to end a two-game winless run.
Mourinho adopted a negative approach to secure a goalless draw with Liverpool at Anfield last weekend before a 2-1 loss to promoted side Huddersfield Town last weekend.
Manchester United hosted Tottenham knowing a win for Spurs would hoist the north London side ahead of the Red Devils and leave Mourinho’s men eight points behind leaders Manchester City.
However, France international Anthony Martial came off the bench to score an 81st-minute winner to secure three points for Manchester United in a close-fought 1-0 win.
Manchester City battled to a 3-2 victory over West Brom at The Hawthorns later on Saturday as the Citizens restored their five-point cushion over Manchester United.
Former Red Devils defender Neville felt it was a vital win for Manchester United to keep their realistic title hopes alive.
“United would have been seven points behind City with a draw – then City would have had a chance to go 10 points clear next weekend before United played at Chelsea,” Neville told The Gary Neville Podcast on Sky Sports.
“That would’ve been a big gap. So now, ultimately it gives United a much better chance. United have got to win the Premier League this season. Manchester City have got to win the Premier League too. Both teams, with the money invested, second isn’t good enough.”
Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson steered the Red Devils to their 20th top-flight crown.
