Sky Sports reporter gives update on Man United’s bid to sign top 29-year-old
Michael Bridge delivers the latest update on Man United's search for a new central defender this summer

Manchester United have a greater chance of signing Toby Alderweireld than Harry Maguire this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.
The Red Devils are thought to be in the market to sign a new central defender as Jose Mourinho prepares for his third season in charge of the Red Devils.
Manchester United were strongly linked with a bid to sign 29-year-old Belgian defender Alderweireld earlier in the summer transfer window following his lack of playing time at Tottenham Hotspur last season.
However, a move has so far failed to materialise, and the Red Devils have also been linked with a bid to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City in recent days.
Now, Sky Sports reporter Bridge has claimed that Manchester United are more likely to sign Alderweireld than Maguire this summer despite their apparent interest in the England defender.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, Bridge said: “I don’t think the Alderweireld deal is over at all.
“In fact, I think Man United have more chance of signing Alderweireld than Maguire. I don’t think Maguire is ready to leave Leicester.”
Manchester United will be aiming to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title next season after they ended up second and without a trophy last term.
The Red Devils won the Europa League and League Cup in Mourinho’s first season but struggled to produce consistent form last term.
