Jose Mourinho explains how he plans to deploy Alexis Sanchez at Man United following his switch from Arsenal
Jose Mourinho has revealed his plans for Alexis Sanchez at Manchester United after the Chilean became the Red Devils’ first signing of the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old has signed a long-term deal with the Red Devils after he finally completed his move to Old Trafford following the relentless speculation about his future at Arsenal.
Sanchez joined Manchester United as part of the same deal which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan head to Arsenal on Monday.
Mourinho will be keen to quickly integrate the attacker into his side at Old Trafford as the Red Devils look to try and enjoy a successful second half of the season under the Portuguese coach.
And the Portuguese coach has now lifted the lid on where he plans to deploy Sanchez for the Red Devils following his switch from Arsenal.
Speaking at a news conference at Carrington on Thursday, Mourinho said: “[Sanchez can play] everywhere in the attacking positions.
“I know him for many, many years. I was with him in Italy – when he was at Udinese, I was at Inter. I was with him in Spain – when I was at Real, he was at Barcelona. I was with him in England – when I was at Chelsea and Manchester United, he was at Arsenal.
“Our careers are almost made in the same countries simultaneously, so I know him very, very well.
“I saw him play on the right, on the left, as a striker and behind the striker and these are Alexis’s positions.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action on Wednesday night next week with a crunch clash against Tottenham at Wembley.
The Red Devils are currently in second place in the Premier League table as they look to try and close the gap down to Manchester City, who are currently 12 points ahead of their bitter local rivals.
