Manchester United have suffered a blow in their bid to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid after Zinedine Zidane quit as manager of the Spanish club, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Manchester United now have almost “no chance” of being able to bring the Wales international to Old Trafford this summer after having initially been given hope of completing a transfer after the Champions League final.

Bale openly admitted that he was considering his Real Madrid future after helping to fire them to a Champions League final win over Liverpool FC last weekend.

His comments gave Manchester United hope of completing a deal to sign him this summer, but the same report now says that the fact that Zidane has left the Spanish club means that Bale is highly likely to stay.

The same story claims that Zidane opted to quit the club because he refused to start phasing out Cristiano Ronaldo and give Bale more of a chance in the first team.

Manchester United are likely to be on the lookout for a number of top signings this summer as they bid to build a team capable of winning the title next season.
