Juan Mata has warned his Manchester United team-mates that Bournemouth will be out for “revenge” when they take on the Cherries on Sunday.

The Red Devils have been getting used to life under new interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following Jose Mourinho’s sacking as manager last week.

Manchester United have some work to do if they are to break back into the top four before the season is out.

The Red Devils currently find themselves outside the top four and with an uphill struggle to try and break back into the Champions League qualification spots before the season is out.

Mata will be hoping to play his part in helping to reverse Manchester United’s ailing fortunes over the coming weeks.

And the Spanish playmaker has admitted that the testing clash against Bournemouth on Sunday will not be an easy game.

Writing in his weekly blog, Mata said: “[On Sunday] we will welcome Bournemouth, a team who are having a phenomenal season.

“In our first league game against them, we managed to win thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Marcus [Rashford], and on Sunday I am sure that they will be looking for revenge.”

He continued: “The legendary Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is our new boss and we couldn’t have started off upon his return to the club in a better way.

“It was a convincing win against Cardiff and it will raise morale going into the end of 2018 and the rapidly approaching new year. It is time to be optimistic, to look ahead and keep working hard to climb up the table.

“We are really motivated to do so while entertaining our fans, who deserve so much.”

Manchester United opted to sack Mourinho last week after the Red Devils’ poor start to the season left them well off the pace in the race for Champions League qualification.

The Red Devils finished second and without a trophy last term under Mourinho.
