Jamie Carragher has his say on Man United's deal to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City

Jamie Carragher has taken to social media to praise Harry Maguire for being an inspiration for young defenders after he sealed a transfer to Manchester United from Leicester City this summer.
The England international is poised to become the world’s most-expensive defender after Manchester United agreed a deal with Leicester City to sign the 26-year-old centre-half for a fee widely reported to be as much as £80m.
Manchester United had been heavily linked with a move to sign Maguire throughout the summer transfer window before news of the deal was widely reported last week.
Former Liverpool FC star Carragher has been a big admirer of Maguire in recent seasons and has been full of praise for the 26-year-old during his punditry work for Sky Sports.
And the former England defender took to social media to praise Maguire after news of the deal of his move to Manchester United began to filter through.
Carragher wrote on Twitter: “Sheffield Utd, Hull City, Wigan (loan) & Leicester City….Now the worlds most expensive defender!
“What a journey & inspiration for young English players up & down the country!! #harrymaguire.”
Manchester United will kick off their Premier League campaign when they host Chelsea FC at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the table and without a trophy last season after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was brought in as Jose Mourinho’s replacement back in December.
