Manchester United have ramped up their efforts to sign Alvaro Morata because Jose Mourinho has been informed that Romelu Lukaku is heading to Chelsea this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Express is claiming that Mourinho was keen to bring Lukaku to Old Trafford this summer but it became clear that the Belgian striker was set to join the Blues,
That, in turn, prompted Mourinho to turn his attentions toward bringing Real Madrid striker Morata to Old Trafford, as has been reported in recent days.
The same story claims that Manchester United are “poised” to complete the signing of Morata in a £70m deal from Real Madrid.
The article also claims that Lukaku has made his mind up to move back to Chelsea from Everton, three years after he was sold by the Blues to the Toffees.
Chelsea have been linked with a host of players so far this summer, but the Blues have so far only concluded a deal to sign goalkeeper Willy Caballero from Manchester City on a free transfer.
