Rio Ferdinand sends message to Man United fans about Cristiano Ronaldo
The Manchester United legend plays down the chances of Cristiano Ronaldo moving to Old Trafford this summer

Rio Ferdinand reckons Real Madrid are still in control of Cristiano Ronaldo’s future despite talk of the forward moving back to Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been put on alert after it emerged Ronaldo wants to leave the Spanish capital this summer despite winning his third Champion League title as a Real Madrid player earlier this month.
Manchester United were naturally touted as a potential destination for the Portugal international in the summer transfer window given his emotional ties to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo won three Premier League titles and the Champions League under Sir Alex Ferguson before securing a then-world record £80m move to Real Madrid from Manchester United.
Ronaldo has scored a staggering 285 times in 265 games in La Liga to establish himself as Real Madrid’s record goal-scorer of all-time.
Speaking to ESPN about Ronaldo’s potential return to Manchester United this summer, former Manchester United defender Ferdinand said:
“If Cristiano Ronaldo becomes available then the best teams in the world will be queueing up to sign him, simple as that.
“But I still feel that Real Madrid probably hold all the cards, it’s all down to them and it will be their final decision.
“He’s under contract, so if they decide to let him go because he wants to leave or because of the situation that he’s in in the courts or whatever it is, we’ll see.”
Manchester United have signed Sweden international Victor Lindelof from Portuguese champions Benfica.
The Red Devils won the Community Shield, EFL Cup and the Europa League.
